History - Native to Great Britain and Scotland, the Border terrier was bred in the 18th century to chase and bold foxes from their hiding places. This superb, hard working hunting dog will cross any terrain or obstacle in any type of weather. Temperament - The Border terrier, the most easygoing and affectionate of the terriers, is an ideal companion. It loves children and is very playful with them. The Border terrier accepts feline family member is raised with them but will chase strays or other small animals if not controlled by its owner. It may also be scrappy with other dogs unless socialized when young. As with most other dogs, Border terriers do best with early obedience training. Upkeep - If the Border terrier is groomed regularly the coat won�t mat and shedding will be minimal. The Border terrier enjoys daily walks, jogs, and hikes but can adapt to a more relaxed, easygoing lifestyle. Size - height 10-12 inches, weight 11-14 pounds. |
